Jacobite leaders and Royalty, in particular Queen Victoria have used the Huntly Arms over the Years. The Property used to belong to the Marquess of Huntly, but he lost the property through gambling debts and this folly is commemorated in the restored gazeboo in the garden with the four flower beds representing the four suits of Cards. A wonderful stained glass window commemorating Donal Dinnie a world famous athlete dominates the residents cocktail lounge. The hotel was privately owned until take over by Swallow Hotels in March 2006.

The Regent, externally, is a combination of a Victorian private hotel with an almost perfect example of 1930's Art Deco design. Internally both buildings merge to provide an open and airy ambience with an array of well positioned public foyers and lounges. As a town centre hotel the Regent cannot offer private parking although there is ample on-street parking on the adjacent pier. This 'disadvantage' does however mean that Oban's many shops, the distillery, the ferry terminals and stations are all within easy walking distance.

PH22 1QB
United Kingdom

The hotel benefits from views of the mountains to the East and the Loch to the West. Although in tranquil surroundings, we are located on the outskirts of Aviemore and just minutes from the A9. The hotel - originally called The Lynwilg Mail and one of the oldest Inns in the Spey valley - was built in the 1700s as a coaching inn alongside the Great North Road. Extended in the mid-1800s, it rapidly established an excellent reputation and received honourable mentions in a number of diaries and accounts of the time. In its time, a part of the hotel has served as the village store, the post office and the local pub. Renamed The Rowan Tree in the early 90s, the hotel has been tastefully modernised and upgraded but always with an eye to retaining its essential character and features: timber beams, open fires and the stained-glass leaded window at the head of the splendid staircase.

Situated on the 1st tee at the famous Royal Dornoch Golf Course, many of the 25 en-suite rooms, including the two luxury suites, have panoramic views across the course and the Dornoch coastline beyond. The split-level Conservatory provides all day dining and is the ideal vantage point for watching the proceedings at the club. Whilst miles of sandy beach may invite you to enjoy long undisturbed walks, you may find it difficult to resist the temptation of settling down with your book in front of a real log fire in the Tom Morris bar. The centre of Dornoch, a Royal Burgh since 1906, is just 200 yards from the hotel, and features the 13th century Cathedral, recently brought to the world's attention by the media reporting on the christening of Rocco, son of Madonna and Guy Ritchie. With 44 golf courses, activities such as walking, bird watching, trout or salmon fishing and horse-riding combined with a host of attractions in the surrounding area, Dornoch offers a tranquil base from which to discover the treasures of the Highlands. The famous industrialist and philanthropist, Andrew Carnegie moved to the area in the 19th century and stayed for the rest of his life. He once said: 'If there is a heaven on earth, it is here'. We like to think so. Mahogany chests and cherry wood are featured throughout the hotel and whilst the bedrooms have been designed in a similar fashion, individual touches - the placement of the woollen throws, a decorative mirror or an unusual piece of furniture - ensure that no two rooms are identical.
